Biography

Biography

Ohio, Puerto Rico, Kentucky and Canada in childhood. Boston and New York before the industry. Three years on camera, then school.

Early life

She was born Nina Ramos on June 1, 1989 in Ohio. Her mother is of Swedish and Native American descent and her father is Puerto Rican, and she has described herself as having been an exhibitionist long before adult film entered the picture.

Childhood took her across a lot of ground: Ohio first, then Puerto Rico, Kentucky, New York, Pennsylvania and Canada. She later settled in New York City, and it is the city she has consistently named as home rather than the state she was born in.

Boston, New York, and the way in

At eighteen she was studying and stripping at a club in Boston. A move to New York City followed, where she cocktail-waitressed at the Penthouse Club before dancing there as well. LA Direct Models later summed the route up as waitressing in a mainstream club, cocktailing in a strip club, then dancing, then a plane ride west.

Before the industry she also worked as an administrative assistant in Boston, and the archived version of her English Wikipedia article records that she worked as a web designer, citing an AVN print profile from June 2011. When LA Direct introduced her, the agency called her a big city girl by heart and passion, and her own site listed New York, NY as home.

2010: a signing, a music video and a first award season

LA Direct Models announced on September 20, 2010 that it had signed two newcomers, Brooklyn Lee and Tasha Reign. She told the agency that she had wanted to act in adult films for a long time and had been too afraid to make the jump, and that she loved the work now that she had. By January 2011 the trade press was calling her the one to watch.

In November 2010 she appeared in P!nk's music video for Raise Your Glass alongside three other LA Direct models, and on November 27 she co-headlined the SEXPO convention in Melbourne with Alexis Texas, Lexi Belle and Kagney Linn Karter, days after returning from a Shane's World shoot in the Caribbean. She walked the AVN Awards red carpet in Las Vegas in January 2011. In April 2011 the original cast of Revenge of the Nerds publicly endorsed her casting in the porn parody of their film.

She started a blog on her own site in December 2011, writing poems and a question and answer series, and once asking readers which dress she should wear to the AVN Awards. Her first full year in the business closed with ten award nominations, newcomer nods from both AVN and XBIZ among them.

Spiegler Girls and the 2012 award season

On November 2, 2011 she signed an exclusive representation deal with Mark Spiegler's Spiegler Girls. The agency's line at the time was that she brought the X factor: acting as well as performance, and a knack for changing her appearance to fit a part.

January 2012 opened with a signing stint at the Evil Angel booth during the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, a place on the Best New Starlet nominees panel and a red carpet shift for Hot Video. On January 22 she won five AVN Awards at once: Best New Starlet, Best All-Girl Group Sex Scene for Cherry 2, Best Oral Sex Scene and Most Outrageous Sex Scene for American Cocksucking Sluts, and Best Sex Scene in a Foreign-Shot Production for Mission Asspossible.

The win surprised her. She told AVN a year later that she had not expected it and almost cried on stage. She also said it gave her leverage: the Spiegler roster kept her busy either way, but the award helped her hold her position, and she believed it played a part in landing the lead in Vivid's remake of Behind the Green Door.

Her central acting job of that period was Amira, the vampire lead of John Stagliano's Voracious, a role she co-wrote with the director. She said she felt an undying motivation to give the role everything she had. Director Axel Braun, who cast her as the Black Widow across Vivid's Marvel parodies, called her one of the rare performers who arrives with the whole set of qualities a star needs.

2013: a title, a farewell film and a quiet exit

On January 12, 2013 she was named Female Performer of the Year at the XBIZ Awards. A week later she won four more AVN Awards, for Brooklyn Lee: Nymphomaniac, Oil Overload 7, Asa Akira Is Insatiable 3 and Voracious: The First Season. In April she collected two more XRCO Awards, Superslut and a second Orgasmic Oralist title. She had moved to Las Vegas by then and still house-danced when she was in town.

On May 1, 2013 she posted her retirement on AdultDVDTalk, saying she wanted to focus on her education, and attended the Los Angeles premiere of the documentary Aroused that same night. Two days later she confirmed the decision to AVN and said John Stagliano expected her back as Amira for Voracious 2, which would have been her last performance. She did not return for it.

Her farewell feature was Vivid's The New Behind the Green Door, directed by Paul Thomas, in which she played Hope, the lead. She said she had wanted the part because of how much she admired Marilyn Chambers in the 1972 original. The film was released on DVD in August 2013 and she hosted a launch party for it at Vivid Cabaret in Los Angeles on October 18. Her own site had been suspended by its host that May, and she had deleted her Twitter and Tumblr accounts. Everything after that is private, and no reliable source places her in the industry again.
